Elaine, Thank you for bringing this article to our attention. The future of mental health and substance abuse treatment lies in our increasing understanding of the brain. Medication that gives us a helping hand in restoring normal functioning by reducing craving (and its interference with attention and learning)may finally improve recovery rates for substance addiction. Much yet to learn but this is a hopeful development, especially for the many people who find current recovery programs insufficient. Nice coincidence for me too as I am teaching the chapter on substance abuse in Abnormal Psy this week and will refer my students to your link also.
